CANDLE SAFETY AGREEMENT
Last Updated: 12/30/2023
At Second Life Candle Shop, we prioritize the safety of our customers and want to ensure that you enjoy our candles responsibly. Please read and follow the guidelines outlined in this Candle Safety Policy to minimize the risk of accidents and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience with our products.
- Candle Placement
- Never leave a burning candle unattended. Ensure that candles are extinguished before leaving a room or going to bed.
- Keep candles away from flammable materials. Place candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from curtains, furniture, and other combustible items.
- Keep candles out of reach of children and pets. Do not leave candles within the reach of children or pets to prevent accidental burns or other injuries.
- Candle Burning Guidelines
- Trim candle wicks before each use. Trim wicks to approximately 1/4 inch before lighting to prevent excessive smoking and ensure a cleaner burn.
- Burn candles in a well-ventilated area. Ensure proper airflow to prevent a buildup of excessive heat and smoke.
- Avoid drafts. Keep candles away from drafts that can cause uneven burning and potential accidents.
- Follow recommended burn times. Adhere to the recommended burn times provided on the candle packaging to prevent overheating and potential fire hazards.
- Fire Safety Measures
- Keep a candle snuffer or lid nearby. Use a candle snuffer or lid to extinguish candles to minimize smoke and prevent hot wax splatter.
- Use appropriate candle holders. Ensure that candles are placed in stable, non-combustible holders that can catch dripping wax.
- Be cautious with multiple candles. If burning multiple candles, ensure they are placed a safe distance apart to prevent heat transfer.
- Emergency Preparedness
- Have a fire extinguisher available. Keep a fire extinguisher within reach and know how to use it in case of emergencies.
- Know candle emergency procedures. Familiarize yourself with emergency procedures in case of accidental spills, burns, or other incidents.
- Product Inspection
- Inspect candles before use. Check for any signs of damage, such as cracked glass or chipped wax, before lighting a candle.
- Discontinue use if there are issues. If a candle shows signs of defects or damage, discontinue use immediately.
- Candle Storage
- Store candles in a cool, dry place. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or heat that could affect the quality and safety of the candles.
- Follow storage recommendations. Adhere to any specific storage recommendations provided on the candle packaging.
